On iPhone? Use the web version

There is no Chatrix app on the App Store, and there is not going to be one soon. In February 2026 Apple updated App Store Review Guideline 1.2 to prohibit apps whose main purpose is connecting users with random or anonymous strangers for live video. That closes the category on iOS — it is not specific to us, and every competitor that still advertises an iPhone app is either grandfathered in or describing something else.

Nothing is lost by using the browser. Open chatrix.site/chat in Safari and grant camera and microphone access when prompted. The web version is the same service on the same servers — the app mainly adds push notifications and a home-screen icon. You can get the icon anyway: tap Share, then Add to Home Screen.

What the app does

Interest matching

Pick tags before you connect and the queue weights toward people who chose the same ones. It will not guarantee a match on every call, but it beats pure chance, which is all the older roulette sites ever offered.

On-device safety checks

A nudity classifier and a face detector run in the app itself, on your device. The face detector is what prompts you when your camera is pointed at a ceiling — a surprising share of skipped calls are just a camera nobody aimed.

Peer-to-peer video

Calls use WebRTC and connect directly between the two devices when the network allows, falling back to a relay when it does not. Direct connections mean lower latency than a server-routed call.

Coins and gifts

Send a virtual gift mid-call. Coins accrue from daily logins and referrals, so the feature is reachable without spending anything.

Before you install

Chatrix connects you to adults you have never met. That is the entire product, and it carries the risks that come with it. Read the Safety Center before your first call — particularly the section on what moderation can and cannot see, because the honest answer is narrower than most platforms in this category admit.

Is the Chatrix app free?
Yes. The app is a free download and matching costs nothing. Coins — used for virtual gifts during a call — are optional, and you earn them by logging in daily as well as buying them.
Is there a Chatrix app for iPhone?
No, and not by choice. Apple's App Store Review Guideline 1.2, updated in February 2026, prohibits apps built primarily to connect users with random or anonymous strangers for live video. That rules out this entire category on iOS, not just Chatrix. On an iPhone, open chatrix.site in Safari instead — the browser version runs the same service.
Do I need an account?
You need a free account to start a call. It is what lets the strike system work: without any identity at all, a user who gets banned simply reloads the page, which is a large part of why the previous generation of anonymous chat sites became unusable.
How much data does a video call use?
Roughly 200–500 MB per hour at the quality the app negotiates on a typical mobile connection, which is comparable to a standard video call on any other app. Calls are peer-to-peer over WebRTC where the network allows it, so the media does not route through a server in most cases.
Which Android versions are supported?
The current build targets modern Android releases; the Play listing shows the exact minimum for your device and will tell you if yours is not supported before you install.
